CHINA'S CUSTOMS STATISTICS, English Monthly, has been edited by General Administration of Customs, China, and published by Economic Information & Agency, Hong Kong, since 1993. There are the country's official external merchandise trade statistics in the Monthly. It comes out on the last day every month.

China's Customs is responsible for trade data collecting, processing, compiling and publishing. By adopting standard concepts and definitions recommended by United Nations for use in international trade statistics, China Customs figures are comprehensive, reliable and internationally comparable.

Coverage

Customs statistics comprise all merchandise passing through China's Customs territory (with the exceptions mentioned below), including: goods from abroad entering customs warehouses, bonded areas or special economic zones (SEZ) and goods leaving above-mentioned areas to abroad; goods for inward or outward processing or assembling and subsequent re-exportation or re-importation; goods on lease for one year or more; goods imported or exported by foreign-invested enterprises; international aid or donations, etc.

Commodity classification

China Customs statistics have been classified using an 8-digit code classification based upon the HS for collecting and compiling trade statistics. The first six digits correspond to the HS, the 7th and 8th digits are national sub-headings established for the purpose of tariff, trade statistics or trade policy measures.
