Introduction:

The People's Republic of China Yearbook, or China Yearbook for short, is a most authoritative and comprehensive yearbook reflecting China's achievements in implementing its reform and open policy and its modernization drive as well as the major policies and events. Compiled by the yarbook's editorial board of Xinhua News Agency, China Yearbook has its Chinese and English editions distrivuted worldwide. This is the 26th issue with over three million characters in its Chinese edition and some 1.5 million words in its English edition.

Begining with the 19th issue, the editorial board of China Yearbook has enlisted as specially invited members on the editorial board many leading members from the relevant department of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, the General Political Consultative Conference, democratic parties and the governments of the various provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the State Council. This has proved to be an effecive measure for China Yearbook to benefit from the guidance of various quarters to further improve our production.

Compilation of China Yerabook takes the approach of classification by contents for the convenience of reference, covering history, geography, land & resources, structure of the state, political parties, justice and law, national defense, foreign affairs, national unification, population and ethnic groups, religion, labor and social security, civil affairs, nation economy, money and banking, public finance m housing and construction, environment, ariculture, industry, communication, transport, commerce, administrative regions, tourism, health and safety, science and technology, education, culture, sports, intellectual property, human rights, women & Children, major events, and government documents.
